Things you need to know before you book a hotel
Does it seem as if every time you look around on the internet for a hotel room, you find more web sites that say you can get a hotel room for less?
Though it may sound enticing, online hotel booking has its own set of challenges. An online discount hotel booking web site should provide the following basic things:
•Offer real time hotel room booking
•Allow date amendments and cancellations online
•Rates should clearly indicate what currency is being quoted, whether the rate is per person or per room, and what is and what is not included in the rate, and, if taxes are not included, how much they will be
•The location information of the hotel should be listed on the hotel description page. This can help identify the distance from the hotel to certain landmarks or the airport
•All the information regarding the hotel (such as facilities and rates) should be located on each hotel's web page
God's Country
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, beauty can escape us. It is only by living in the moment that we
can experience our wondrous environment. Sometimes traveling to a new and exciting place helps us to take
notice of our surroundings.

Arizona In All Its Colorful Glory
Arizona is one of the most colorful places to vacation.
Between enchanting sunrises and sunsets and the colorful
fields, pine forests with the ever-changing climates and
moutain ranges that seem to change colors by the minute,
it is art for the eye.
There is much to do in Arizona. Vacation activities
include golfing in world class courses, hiking, canoeing,
and trout fishing. There are even areas where the
temperature is such that you can water ski and snow ski in
the same day.
A neat spot to sight see is the Apache Trail, which was
initially built in the 1930s to support the development
of the dams built by the Salt River. The drive is a
loop drive of 80 miles that is partially dirt. This
section provides the most amazing views of mountains with
dense forestry. Along the way, you will go by Fish Creek
Canyon. RV companies do not allow their vehicles to be...
Mazatlan Frank Tour Guide
While we were in Mazatlan, we took a Copala and city tour with Mazatlan Frank. We looked forward to it very much because Frank was highly recommended. He picked us up in the morning and headed off to Copala. Copala is a delightful little village about 40 miles from Mazatlan on the mountains, which was once a thriving mining town.
During the ride, Frank kept us entertained with the history of Mazatlan, pointing out roadside interests, and best of all, his wonderful sense of humor. Frank's exceptional English, knowledge, charm and wit have made this tour so much more enjoyable.
Along the way to Copala, we made stops to see handmade bricks, tiles and potteries (incredible!!), beautiful hand-carved furniture (my wife had to convince me we couldn't bring furniture home in the plane), and the freshest homemade bakery (yummy!).
Once we got to Copala, I was amazed by their arts and crafts. We spent some time browsing the town, and then off to this unique restaurant for a fabulous lunch, which included the famous, absolutely delicious banana coconut cream pie!
With our tummies happily satisfied, we left Copala and continued on to the city tour with Frank. We were treated to the best sightseeing and shopping locations. That was a trip in itself.

Pillow Menus at Hotel Preston, Nashville
These days it seems as if the comforts of home are not achievable on the road. Most hotels are cold, and utilitarian, but there are exceptions. Hotel Preton is a new hotel (opened just over a year) with fresh ideas and concepts and it is all the rage in Music City USA. Hotel Preston, a convenient two mile jaunt from the Nashville International Airport, boasts 196 large guest rooms and are priced at reasonable rates starting at around US$86/night.
Like other hotels, it does sport a full service restaurant and lounge with live entertainment. There's a clean outdoor pool, a well equipped 24 hour fitness center, business center, banquet facilities, meeting rooms and even a spa service provided in the privacy of your room if you’d like.
Here's where it becomes a little more specialized . . .
Once you've chosen your room, you're offered a pillow menu. Yes, a pillow menu, outfitted with a plethora of pillows all featuring different textures and fillings for the most discriminating 'pillow connoisseur'. Couple this little touch with the stock pillow top bed, soft and comfortable duvet, divine sheets, and you're in for a night of sleep that rivals anything you might experience in your own bed!
The personal programming for comfort does not end there. Feel like adding an 'Austin Powers' aura to your room? Add a
lava lamp. That's right, order one up, and it will be delivered to your room; pronto!...
What to explore in Barcelona Spain
As any European can brag about, Barcelona in Spain is no exception with its endless history, much of it still remaining, but much more of it has been added on in the 20th century. In many people´s opinion, you fully appreciate what Catalunya ( four regions including Barcelona ) is all about if you concentrate on the newly added culture. Barcelona has been a busy city and with all the new activities that it is willing to take on, tourism has become a big part of its daily life. So, for a full-scale visit to squeeze every drop of pleasure out of it, be well prepared with your map which has a details on hotels, entertainment, and the best celebrations and latest exhibitions.
Pick one’s way in Barcelona
The place to set out from to find your first glimpse of Modernism would be to go straight to Guell Park. This natural space should really have been called Antonio Gaudi Park because it is entirely filled with this architecture´s spellbinding works. He has converted benches, balconies, walls and entire buildings into paintings. Once you have filled your camera with these delights, recharge it again for Gaudi´s highlight; the Sagrada Familia Church. Even though at first sight the Sagrada Familia has an antiquated look, it was started in 1883 and has been growing all during this century, getting special modern touch-ups and new addition.
In 1892 the Barcelona Zoo was founded. A private collection was donated to the city and as the centre of the
city was in the port area called La Ciutat Vella ( beautiful city), the zoo is found in the Ciutadella Park.
This fascinating place, houses more than 7,500 different types of animals. The tiny hippo...
A parents survival guide to Legoland Windsor
I have visited Legoland many times over many years, as well as having made and heard suggestions from many, many families over the years. It has given me a set of “rules” that have become invaluable in attacking and surviving a day out at Legoland in Windsor.
There really can be nothing worse than planning a trip to Legoland and to turn up just after the park is open at 10am. This is the first fatal move. You will end up queuing almost as soon as you get off the M4 motorway (see Getting To Us for directions). This inevitably means you get to the Legoland park some time after 10am, more likely nearer 11am, then queue into the parking area, queue to get tickets, queue to get through the ticket barrier, queue to get on the train down the hill and then you continue your day with a bit more queuing on all the rides. Lovely!
I think you can all see the picture I’m painting here! I will just add that this is normally only this bad on peak days in summer, at weekends and during the school holidays, but it can happen at any day to a greater or lesser degree depending upon the weather – it suddenly turns hot and sunny, everyone decides to go to Legoland – or there’s a special offer on you didn’t know about – all the locals with their Legoland annual passes turn out for the day.
So how do you start off on the right foot?
The most important thing to remember is that the Legoland park opens at 10am, and by park I don’t mean the parking,
the pay points, the Lego shop or the hill top restaurant!...

Traveling in Mexico City: The Ins & Outs of Getting Around
If you have never traveled to Mexico City before, getting around can be a bit overwhelming. There are many ways to travel within Mexico City, and the methods, rules and day-to-day getting from Point A to Point B can be frustrating.
This article will give you the necessary information you require to get around in Mexico City, while ensuring your travel plans are still pleasant, exciting and fruitful. So let's get started! It's an exciting journey you are about to embark upon.
Traveling in Mexico City, a General Overview
The naming conventions used for Mexico City’s streets and neighborhoods can be very exasperating to the out of town traveler if you aren't sure what everything means. The most important thing to remember when trying to find a certain location is: Patience. Many times, streets that 'should' be in a certain place, just aren't.
Numbered streets are usually (but not always) designated as North/South (norte/sur) or East/West (oriente/poneinte). A block can be numbered, depending on how far it is from an arbitrary starting point. However, you'll notice during your travels that many Mexican addresses have only "s/n" (sin número) listed after the street name, which means, literally, "no number". And yet other addresses have a kilometer designation in the address, indicating that they are located a certain number of kilometers down a major street, such as a highway.
All addresses in Mexico City are written ...

Travel and Tourism in Sierra Leone is a Hot Topic!
Until a few days ago, if you had asked me to tell you about Sierra Leone, I would have had to think long and hard to tell you much about this West African country. I could probably have explained roughly where the country is located. I may have mentioned something about the slave trade being connected to Sierra Leone. I could certainly have told you that they had experienced a brutal civil war. I might even have admitted that I wasn't entirely sure whether the war was 100% over. And that's about it.
Slavery and war. A pretty negative view of what is in fact an exceptionally positive country. Today, I see Sierra Leone from an entirely different perspective.
It is difficult to ignore Sierra Leone's history and focus purely on the present. Once a fertile area inhabited by
dozens of tribes, it was settled by the Portuguese in the 1400's who built a fort as a trading post for gold, spices,
ivory and slaves. A British protectorate in later years, Sierra Leone had the dubious honour of becoming home to more
than 40,000 freed slaves who gave Freetown its name. As a protectorate, Sierra Leone was exploited for its mineral and
diamond wealth in the 1900's and Sierra Leonean's fought against the Germans in Cameroon in the First World War, and
alongside the British in the Second World War. In 1961, Sierra Leone achieved independence from Britain and governed
itself peacefully for 30 years. The peace...

Peering down from the gangway of the Catalina Express, I see fat orange Garibaldis, the California State fish, nibbling among the rocks. It’s early-afternoon on a sunny day and we’ve arrived at Avalon, the little town on Santa Catalina Island off the coast of California.
Yes, the island of “Twenty-six miles across the sea” fame, the song made famous in 1958 by the Four Preps. But we didn’t swim here with “water wings and my guitar.” We took the Catalina Express, the modern ferry that crosses the water in one hour and five minutes—much easier to visualize than 26 miles.
Views of the Long Beach skyline, Queen Mary, freighters, and cruise ships plying the Mexican Riviera are to be had from topside aft, the only outdoor seating. Inside, besides seating, there are tables and restrooms. There’s a full bar with snacks and on the top deck, the Commodore Lounge?a private seating area for 50 people. For just $10 more on the ticket price (plus you get to pre-board) you can recline in leather seats and enjoy a free cocktail and snack. It’s a particularly popular place in the summer, when the ferries are crowded.
A taxi takes my husband and I up to the Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel, perched atop a green hillside overlooking the Bay
of Avalon....

Le Parker Meridien in Palm Springs, a refreshing California desert oasis and spa is a surprise for the eyes.
Hospitality executive Adam Glick, president of the Jack Parker Corporation was responsible not only for the 2003 purchase of a 13-acre resort in Palm Springs, California but also for bringing together the two disparate unique talents of Jonathan Adler, an art visionary who single handedly turned earthy-crunchy “pottery” into groovy “ceramics” and David Mann, principle architect for MR Architecture & Décor in New York City. The combination is so dynamic that you must book a visit ASAP so you can personally experience the over-the- top creativity of Adler which vividly brings alive Mann’s architectural design for clean-lines and airy spaces.
The entrance is strikingly simple with a curved driveway that made it appear as if I was pulling up to a private home. The first thing I saw was a high latticework wall of white concrete. Behind this brise soleil, the bright orange entry doors popped into my focus. What I found beyond these doors of this $25 million remodel was not only surprising but somewhat surreal and sublime.
As I stepped into the wide open ...

Ever been to Romania?
About a year ago, two Romanian backpackers launched www.spirit.ro (pronounced "The Spirit of Romania"), a travel guide with a twist, meant to show you that Romania means a bit more than Dracula or football. Well, tourism authorities and travelers from all over the world, watch out: the site's summer-autumn 2005 version is alive and kicking for a couple of days now.
So, have you ever been to Romania?
If the answer is yes, then take a virtual trip to www.spirit.ro and lots of pleasant memories related to Romania will start flowing through your head. You’ll find there a place where you can brag with your travel experiences, whether they’re positive or negative, where you can share the pictures you took in Romania and last but not least, a discussion board where you can share your knowledge with travelers that are about to visit places you’ve just returned from.
If Romania was indeed one of your memorable travel experiences then the site will definitely grab you and turn you without even knowing it into a volunteer promoter of this country.

Top 10 Tips Taking for Road Trips With Kids
Top 10 Tips Taking for Road Trips With Kids
Like many other families, our family takes a number of road trips each year. We have three beautiful young daughters and people often say to me “How can you stand to take road trips with young kids?” In fact, I love taking road trips. I now prefer them to traveling by plane. Here are my top 10 tips for having a fun and non-stressful driving vacation.
1.Leave early in the morning, before Breakfast. This way you can get a few hours under your belt while the kids (hopefully) sleep in the car. Then stop for breakfast.
2.If your budget allows, buy your child(ren) a new toy for the trip. Don’t let them play with it until you are in the car and on your way.
3.Bring along a portable DVD player if your car doesn’t already have one. For long trips, pack at least 3 or more DVD’s. It’s even better if you can buy a couple of new ones to keep your child(ren)’s attention better.
4.Pack a cooler with lots of your kids favorite snacks, drinks and sandwiches. Keep the cooler handy in the car, so you can just reach in and give them something. Packing your own food saves on costs.
5.Stop at a nice rest area to eat your meals. This will be less stressing then hauling the kids into a crowded
McDonald’s. ...
Málaga Spain - Birthplace of Pablo Picasso
Another lively Andalucian city and capital of the popular
Costa del Sol Málaga has, in its time, been inhabited by
Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Moors.
Wide avenues and green spaces abound and, as with other
major Spanish cities, it is truly steeped in history and
culture.
The Citadel or La Alcazaba (8th-11th centuries) as well
as being the symbol of Málaga, is one of the largest
fortresses in Andalucia with and Archaelogoical Museum now
located there.
Close by is the wonderful Castle of Gibralfaro (14th century),
joined to the Citadel by a stretch of wall that gives
superb views of Málaga and its port.
At the foot of Gibralfaro can be found the Roman Theater,
La Malagueta, and the old quarter of the city.
In the center of the historic district stands the Cathedral
of Málaga (16th-18th centuries), also known as La Manquita
because of its unfinished tower...
